Bending Process

Rapid Descent

The upper slider comes down fast. It is pulled down by gravity or extra hydraulic cylinders. As it gets close to the workpiece it switches to a slow coming down mode.

Slow Descent

The hydraulic system gives pressure. This pressure pushes the part into the workpiece. The workpiece then sits in the V-groove of the part. This action bends the material. How much it bends is decided by how deep it goes.

Pressure Holding

When the bending angle is right the system keeps the pressure on for a time half a second, to a second. This helps stop the material from springing

Return Stroke

The hydraulic valve changes direction. The upper ram then rises fast. This completes one cycle of bending.

 

Key Points for Routine Maintenance

Hydraulic System: You need to replace the oil with new ISO VG 46 anti-wear hydraulic oil every year. At the time you should clean the filter element. Also check the hose connections every month to make sure there are no leaks.

Guide Rails and Lead Screws: The guide rails and lead screws need some care too. You have to apply lithium-based grease on them every week. Then every two weeks you should clean the backgauge guide rails so that metal chips do not cause any problems.

Dies: After you change the dies you must clean the lower dies. Look for any indentations or cracks on the surfaces. If the wear on the V-groove of the die is than 0.3 mm you have to replace the die.

Light Curtain: During every shift take a cloth and wipe the light curtain windows. This will keep them free of oil stains or anything that might block them.

Precision Calibration: Every six months you have to calibrate the bending angle. You can use an angle tester or a standard test block to do this. If the bending angle is not correct by more, than ±1° you will have to adjust the compensation parameters.
